CONFINEMENT

When we started this project in February, we were working on the idea of a person and the internal psyche of feeling “tied” to your current life; people, relationships, finances, situations that you feel, deep down, you’ve grown out of however, can’t seem to let go of because you fear what is unfamiliar. What if I cut ties with this habitual thing that is holding me down and I become alone? What if I sink instead of swim? Do I risk it all, experience discomfort and grow or do I stay in this safe place, living this complacent life and continue to feel this inner void like something is off? As artists, we have both been through great transitions in our lives and felt the need to express this state of confinement. However, the state of the world was about to be tested by this very same idea. The foreshadowing of what would come within days of finishing this project was something we could have never imagined; Globally, we all stop and now sit isolated and bound to the walls of our current spaces. For how long? We don’t know, no one has answers. What started out as a metaphor for our own personal lives has become a reality for the world.
